Say hello to your new favourite, crispy, crunchy snack. These seaweed chips are super tasty & super healthy. Plus they’re ridiculously easy to make. There’s no reason to hit up the vending machine if you’ve got these on hand!
What you’ll need:
10 nori sheets
1 Tbsp sesame oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
Ground cayenne pepper, pinch
Salt, to taste
Preheat your oven to 135 degrees Celsius then cover two baking trays with paper. Place the five sheets of nori down separately, shiny side up. With a pastry brush, lightly brush the nori with water, being sure to reach all the way to the edges, then carefully place the other five sheets on top of the water-brushed five, making sure to keep the edges aligned.
Using a pair of scissors, cut the nori into strips & then cut those strips in half. You’ll end up with about 50 chips. Arrange them on the baking trays in a single layer – you might need to bake them in a couple batches.
Now it’s time to mix up your spicy topping. In a bowl, combine the sesame oil, garlic & cayenne pepper. Use the pastry brush to coat the top of the chips then sprinkle with salt. You could also pop sesame seeds on top as well – unfortunately I didn’t have any on hand when I made this batch!
Bake them for about 20 minutes depending on your oven. They will turn a deep, shiny green & be all lovely & crispy. Allow them to cool before you bite into them for the ultimate crunch!
These chips really are so delicious & the best part? One serving (around 10 chips or 1 sheet of nori) is only 42 calories. Yep, you read that right. So please, bake them up & enjoy!
